ATTN Autism Advocates: Reminder - Take Action on the ABLE Accounts Act of 2009

03/26/09 Autism Votes... It's time for lawmakers to listen.

Autism Advocates,

We have made tremendous headway in the last few weeks in gathering cosponsors for the ABLE Accounts Act of 2009. Over 7,000 of you have taken action so far, but we need an even bigger response in order to get these bills passed and get families across the country the help they need to save, tax-free for their child's future disability-related expenses.

Senators Robert Casey (D-PA), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), and Christopher Dodd (D-CT) introduced S. 493, with Senators Richard Burr (R-NC), Edward Kennedy (D-MA), and Sam Brownback (R-KS) signing on as the bill's original co-sponsors. Representative Ander Crenshaw (R-FL) introduced the companion bill in the House, H.R. 1205, with Representatives Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), and Kendrick Meek (D-FL) joining Crenshaw as original cosponsors. Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Roger Wicker (R-MS) have signed on as co-sponsors of S. 493, while H.R. 1205 now has 51 co-sponsors in the House(see the full list of cosponsors HERE).
