Back to School with the NAMI Child and Adolescent Action Center

NAMI Goes Back to School with the CAAC

Back to School with the NAMI Child and Adolescent Action Center

The NAMI Child and Adolescent Action Center (CAAC) changes the lives of children and adolescents living with mental illness and their families through advocacy, support and education. Our goal is to build and support grassroots advocacy to ensure children's mental health care reform at the local, state and national levels.

Why Support the CAAC?

  • Each school year, the CAAC works with NAMI grassroots leaders to educate school and other child-serving professionals about the early warning signs of mental illness with the Parents and Teachers as Allies program.
  • The CAAC aims to keep youth where they belong -- in their communities with their families -- by focusing attention on the crisis occurring in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
  • The CAAC provides families with tools on how to effectively advocate for their child within the school system.
  • Along with other free resources, the CAAC offers NAMI Beginnings, a quarterly magazine that focuses on children's mental health issues.
  • The CAAC provides facts about child and adolescent mental health, treatment options and the various systems that serve youth online.

This school year, support youth living with mental illness. Support the Child and Adolescent Action Center.
